휴학을 신청할 경우, 소속 대학교에서 관할 출입국사무소에 통보를 합니다. 그리고 휴학한 유학생은 유학비자(D-2)는 상실되고, 14일 이내에 출국해야 합니다. 만약 이미 출국을 한 상태라면 체류기간 잔여 여부와 관계없이 유학비자는 말소됩니다. 복학를 위하여 대한민국에 다시 입국하고자 할 때에는 새로운 D-2비자를 받고 들어와야 합니다.
2월에 졸업은 했는데 체류기간은 3월말까지이니, 잠깐 해외에 나갔다가 체류기간 만료일 이전에 돌아와도 되나요?
소속 대학교의 통보를 통해 졸업사실을 알게된 출입국사무소에서는 해당 학생의 체류상태를 확인합니다. 이때, 이미 출국을 한 학생이라면 체류기간 잔여 여부와 관계없이 유학비자가 종료된 것으로 간주하여 해당 비자를 말소합니다. 따라서, 대학교 졸업 후 한국에서 상위과정에 진학하거나, 취업준비를 할 예정이라면 출국 전 체류기간연장 또는 체류자격변경 허가를 받으십시오.
졸업을 하면 본국에 잠시 가 있을 예정이라 비자가 끝나게 되는데요. 한국으로 다시 돌아와 취업할 수 있는 방법은 없나요?
졸업 후 국내에서 구직활동을 할 계획이 있거나 이미 취업이 확정된 경우라면 출국하기 전 미리 '체류자격변경' 허가를 받고 출국하는 것이 좋습니다. 시간적 여유가 없는 경우라면 출국 후 구직(D-10)비자를 새로 발급받아 돌아올 수 있습니다.
대학교 학사 과정으로 체류기간 상한인 6년까지 이미 체류를 했습니다. 그런데 아직 논문 심사과정이 남았어요. 체류기간 연장이 가능할까요?
유학생은 학위과정 별로 체류기간 상한이 정해져있기 때문에 상한을 넘어 추가로 체류기간연장을 받는 것은 불가능합니다. 아래 체류기간 상한표를 참고하여 유학일정을 관리해주시기 바랍니다.
지금 다니는 학교를 다른 학교로 바꾸고 싶어요. 이미 다른 학교에 합격도 했는데, 학교변경 신청이 가능한가요?
국내에서 다른 학교로 변경하는 것은 원칙적으로 제한됩니다. 출국 후 비자를 다시 발급받고 들어와야 합니다. 다만, 국내 유학 중 부득이하게 학교를 변경해야 할 사유가 인정되는 경우 학교변경 신청이 가능한데 이때, 기존 학교의 수학기간과 변경된 학교의 수학예정 기간이 학위과정별 체류기간 상한을 초과해서는 안됩니다. 기존 학교에서 자퇴나 제적되어 원칙적으로 출국 대상인 경우에도 학교변경이 제한될 수 있습니다.
Can I go back to my country while taking a leave of absence?
If international student apply for a leave of absence, that university will notify that local immigration office. Then international student who take a leave of absence will lose D-2 visa and must leave the Korea within 14 days. If international student have already left the Korea, D-2 visa will be canceled regardless of the remaining period of your stay. If international student want to enter Korea again for return to school, you must enter with a new D-2 visa.
I graduated in February, but my stay is until the end of March, so can I go abroad for a while and come back before the the expiration date of my stay?
When an international student graduates, the university notifies the immigration office of the graduation, and the immigration office checks the student's stay status. At this time, if graduate has already left the Korea, regardless of the remaining period, D-2 visa is canceled. Therefore, if graduate is going to go to a higher degree course in Korea after graduating or are planning to prepare for employment, please get permission to extend your visa or change your visa before leaving the Korea.
After graduation, I will be in my home country for a while, so my visa will be over. Is there any way to come back to Korea and get a job?
If you plan to work in Korea after graduation or have already been confirmed for employment, it is recommended to get a "change of Visa" permission before leaving Korea. If you don't have enough time, you can return with a job search visa (D-10) after leaving Korea.
I've already stayed for up to 6 years, which is the upper limit of my visa stay due to my undergraduate program. But I still have a thesis review process. Is it possible to extend my visa?
It is impossible for international studentsto extend their stay beyond the upper limit because the upper limit of their visa stay is set for each degree program. Please refer to the upper limit table of the period of stay below to manage your study schedule.
I want to change my current school to another one. I already passed another school, so can I apply for a change?
In principle, changing to another school in Korea is restricted. After leaving Korea, you must reissue your visa and come back in. However, if there is a reason to change the school while studying in Korea, you can apply for a school change. At this time, the existing school's period of study and the changed school's scheduled period of study must not exceed the upper limit for each degree program. If international student is dropped out or expelled from the existing school and have to leave Korea, school changes may be restricte.
